August 26, 2025 | Ebène, Mauritius – The Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) organised on 25–26 August 2025 the final Steering Committee of the Regional Fisheries Monitoring Plan (PRSP). This flagship mechanism of regional cooperation in the fisheries sector has been supported since its inception 15 years ago by the European Union through various programmes, including the ECOFISH Programme, which is now coming to an end.
The meeting provided both an opportunity to take stock of the coordinated fight against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, and to lay the groundwork for the sustainability of the PRSP. The ultimate goal: the establishment of a Regional Fisheries Monitoring Centre.
