Tell us about the LATAFIMA project.

I have a good understanding of the LATAFIMA project. In fact, we were fortunate enough to be among the beneficiaries of the training provided as part of this project. I had the honor of being selected as one of the candidates to become a trainer, which allows me to say that I am very familiar with the LATAFIMA project. It is an excellent project that contributes to community development, particularly the empowerment of women.

What benefits have you gained from the project?

We have benefited greatly from this project, first and foremost through training, but also through developing a love and passion for our work. For example, as you can see, I had the opportunity to acquire this fish preservation equipment (refrigerators), which allows me to preserve large quantities of fish and keep them in good condition for a long time. You see, I was given a machine, for example, here I can cut the fish easily, as you can see. all you have to do is position the fish and it cuts easily, unlike in the past when we used machetes and it was too hard.

What was the situation like before the project?

It was really difficult, you see, we have big fish, it was too difficult for customers who wanted to buy pieces of fish. If you see fish like this, not just anyone can buy it whole. But thanks to this project, even those with little money can buy it. You see here, we have pieces that we cut for people who don’t have much money.

At which level did that help you?

The project really helped us at a high level. We had a lot of difficulties, and there were many things we didn’t know existed, but now we know about them thanks to the LATAFIMA project.

What advice can you give once women’s groups need to be supported?

It will be really good for women to be able to participate in development, especially in training courses and seminars, because that is the key to knowledge. Even if we give a lot without knowledge, it becomes useless. It is better to awaken them to knowledge and then help them with material assistance, because if we don’t have the materials, we cannot develop. If we take the fish out of the water and you don’t find a customer immediately, it will be damaged.
